Just before the opening portion of the Liturgy, the priest says the Opening Prayer: “O heavenly King, Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, everywhere present, and filling all things, treasury of blessings, and Giver of Life, come and dwell in us, cleanse us from every impurity and save our souls, O Good One.”
This is followed by: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will among men.92 (Two times) O Lord open my lips, and
my mouth will declare Your praise.93 (One time)”94
93 Psalm 51:15.
94 If the deacon is serving, the following dialogue takes place --
Deacon: It is time for the Lord to act.
Priest: Blessed is our God always, now and ever, and to the ages of ages.
Deacon: Pray for me, master.
Priest: May the Lord direct your steps to every good work.
Deacon: Remember me, holy master.
Priest: May the Lord remember you in his kingdom, always, now and ever and unto the ages of ages.
