Words of Wisdom - Food for Thought

 

-When it rains, waters flow into lower ground; just as God's Grace flows to rest inside the humble one.

- Do you want to become humble? First become inconspicuous.

- Infirmities of the body can heal the infirmities of the soul.

- When human consolation leaves us, divine consolation will approach.

- Quite often, from within social failures God is preparing us for heavenly successes.

- When God denies or delays fulfilling a request, He is probably trying to cure your inner passion.

- Where there is patience, problems are not created.

- How to handle praises and eulogies? By examining your worthiness in depth. For example your hands may look impeccably clean to others, but: scrutinize them under a powerful microscope, and you will see the grime and germs that are actually there.

- Virginity is one thing, humility another. Many virgins can end up in "Hell" through lack of humility.

- Give bread to the needy whenever you can, or a coin, or even a glass of water. If you don't have any of these, at least console them.  Your reward is dependent on your predisposition, not what you can do.

- Our visible but not actual virtues hinder us from seeing our invisible but actual sins.

- When you see a spiritually weary person, don't add to his burden; his knees can't support it.

- To observe is not a sin. Sin is to observe with envy, pride, lust and greed.

- Do you want to find the eternal life?  Hold onto these 2 things: faith and humility.

- Of the travellers who stay at inns overnight, some find beds, others don't, so they sleep on the floor. When the night has passed,the next morning they abandon their beds and the inn, taking with them only their belongings. So it is for those born in this world: both the rich and the poor and the high-ranking; they too leave this life as if it was an inn, without taking any of their life's pleasures and riches along with them - just their life's works, be they good or bad.

- God responds to all prayers. Sometimes His response is "No".

- Don't strive to hold a breeze in the palm of your hand - that is, to have faith, but without works.

- The way that life is treating you is a relentless mirror of the way that you are treating life.

- A humble person never falls. Where can he fall from, if he places himself lower than others?

- Evil's greatest achievement is that it has convinced people it doesn't exist.

- To confront good with good is good. To confront bad with bad is bad.

- Man can be stronger than steel and more fragile than glass.

- Bravery is to check what is just, and not what benefits we can reap.

- Malice and virtue are not the result of nature, but of predisposition.

- Distrust in something usually has its roots in blind trust in something else.

- Give the devil an inch and he will leave...taking miles off your life with him.

- When you pray, don't tell God what to do; just tell Him you are present and ready.

- After the first and second admonition, desist, Don't persist.

- They who don't want to earn their meals shouldn't want to eat.

- Toil with faith for whatever is ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah began building the Ark.

- When you can kneel before God, you can stand up to anyone else!

- Injustice never gets blessed - by God or by people.

- The blessings we have been given far outweigh our excuses to be miserable.

- I can assert that a church with a lightning rod on its roof is declaring a lack of faith.
